Hint: It’s not because we are crazy and that we want to shelter our kids in bunkers from the outside world. I think our decision to homeschool came about naturally. I think that many families today probably made the decision to homeschool the way I did. They had a friend or acquaintance that homeschooled or that happened upon an article or book that explored the subject. Our children are young. If you had asked me 10 years if I was planning on homeschooling our future children I probably would have said that I really didn’t know enough about homeschooling to make an informed decision.
Now, later on in life, I have a least been exposed to friends that have homeschooled or are currently homeschool their children. I have asked several kids about their experiences being homeschooled and what are their feelings towards it. I have prayed about the decision and truly believe that this is what God is calling me to do.
There are so many reasons why families decide homeschool. It is really wonderful to read about other homeschooling families and their reasons for homeschooling. Our reason for homeschooling is pretty simple. I love spending time with my kids and I want them to have a love of learning.
I enjoy my kid’s company MOST of the time. Sure, they drive me crazy sometimes, but for the most part it is heaven. I love it. And I love seeing them explore the world around them. I love watching them discover new things and invent some new and wacky invention.
I enjoy their company. I enjoy teaching and learning. And I enjoy watching them learn. We have other reasons for wanting to homeschool, but these are the most important.
